THE IDEA

When the Desert Falls Silent, the Sky Comes Alive

Far from cities and artificial light, Egypt’s night sky reveals a clarity that has become rare in everyday life. The vastness and silence of the desert, together with its open horizon, transform an evening beneath the stars into a shared experience of nature, discovery and wonder.

Masry Tours designs every stargazing journey around the individual group. Depending on the season, moon phase, group size and desired level of comfort, we select a suitable desert region and create a route tailored to the participants’ interests and needs.

More Than a View Through a Telescope

The experience begins before sunset, with a journey through the desert landscape, arrival at a camp or with local hosts, and a shared dinner beneath the open sky. After dark, attention turns to constellations, planets and, when conditions allow, the Milky Way or special celestial events.

On request, we coordinate expert astronomy guidance, suitable observation equipment or a focus on night and astrophotography. Local desert guides accompany the journey and share their knowledge of the landscape, navigation and life in the desert.

Your Journey Follows the Sky

The location, travel dates and itinerary are carefully planned around the moon phase, weather conditions, desired observations and the group’s interests. Specific sightings in nature cannot be guaranteed, so we plan realistically and develop suitable alternatives in case conditions are not ideal.

Whether you are a group of friends, a family, an astronomy club, a photography group or another private interest group, Masry Tours organises transfers, accommodation or camping, meals, local guidance and every required element of the journey.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What You Should Know Before Enquiring

Do We Need Any Previous Knowledge of Astronomy?

No. The content and depth of the guidance are adapted to the group, ranging from a relaxed introduction to a more specialist focus on astronomy.

Which Groups Is This Journey Suitable For?

The concept is suitable for groups of friends, families, astronomy clubs, photography groups and other private groups interested in the night sky and the desert.

Can Particular Stars or Celestial Events Be Guaranteed?

No. Clouds, wind, dust, moonlight and other natural conditions can affect visibility. We plan carefully and discuss suitable alternatives.

When Is the Best Time to Travel?

This depends on the chosen region, temperatures, moon phase and possible celestial events. We will recommend a suitable period following the initial consultation.

Do We Have to Camp in the Desert?

No. Depending on the region and your preferred level of comfort, we can combine a desert night, an ecolodge or more comfortable accommodation with an evening of stargazing.

Can Masry Tours Arrange Telescopes or Photography Equipment?

Suitable observation or photography equipment can be arranged upon request, depending on the region and availability. Your own equipment can, of course, be incorporated into the planning.

How Large Can the Group Be?

The possible group size depends on the region, accommodation, transport and desired observation experience. Once we receive your enquiry, we will assess suitable options for your particular group.
